What’s new this year?

Have you ever wanted to see inside a Ghost Bus? Well this year you can! We are delighted to have Dublin Bus Ghost Bus with us for the evening. Dublin’s famous Ghost Bus will lead out the parade and later will take its place on the festival site – so be sure to hop on board to hear some ghost stories

BRYR (Ballymun Regional Youth Resource) presents the Haunted House, the Home of Olli & Molli the hosts of Otherworld. They are inviting you to visit their ancestral home where their relatives are still present even you can’t see them you can feel their presence, talk to their ghosts and meet all of Molli and Ollie’s weird and wonderful friends.

The HIP HOP HOUSE will showcase Ballymuns' champion hip hop dancers

Listen out for the new sounds of funky jazz and creepy blues this year

Hallowe'en Hiphop Scene: Local Rappers from Ballymun present their Hallowe'en themed show supported by artist and Emcee, "Temper-Mental MissElayneous" with DJ set provided by Barry Krishna. Original lyrics delivered by a zombie crew, back from the dead for one horrifying, haunting night only. Witness, if you dare, the hair-rising rhymes from the Otherworld.

MunTV will be out on location during the day reporting from Finglas and Ballymun, catching up on parade preparations, interviewing organisers and meeting local people hooked on all things Halloween

The Environmental Youth Network, a youth group coordinated by Global Action Plan in Ballymun, is working on a giant spider sculpture made from reclaimed materials for the Otherworld parade

Some old favourites include:

Jacqui Carroll (RTE & NEAR FM) is back again to host the event, supported this year by a number of young co-hosts

A jam packed schedule of acts on the main stage will entertain us throughout the night! Included in the lineup is Loose Change, one of Dublin's longest established cover bands, with over 25 years on the road and a plethora of local talent including BRYR’s Music Club- an ensemble of young bands, singers and rock ‘en rollers

Circus Gerbola who are making their 4th visit to Ballymun and with them they bring all the fun and excitement of the circus to Otherworld. Watch out for spectacular aerial acts, acrobatics, fire eaters and of course the clowns!

A spellbinding magician and traditional games stalls that will twist you with nostalgia

Teach Ceol Bailemuna who are back again with the Halloween Ceilí Mór

Otherworld is a festival with the community at its heart and over the last few weeks local clubs, youth groups and organisations have been busy preparing for the festival. Some are building floats, and designing costumes; others are involved in an arts based skull making project and Venetian mask making workshops. . . did we mention a Halloween themed music/rap project or how about the local estate of Marewood who are decorating their whole street?

As you can see this year features a host of highlights. Don’t forget the festival will begin with the Halloween Parade (sets off at 5.30pm and reaches the festival site at 6pm) while a spectacular fireworks display will mark the end of the night.

The Lord Mayor, Andrew Montague will also be popping at some stage, so watch out for an interview with him around 7.45pm!

Gates will open from 6pm - 9pm
Admission: Free
